Autism Awareness Assembly. An assembly all about ASD, what it is, some statistics and facts addressing misconceptions and celebrating the successes of famous people on the autistic spectrum. It lasts around 15-20 mins (inc clip). It includes animations, an option of two different 4 minute clips (one for KS3 and one for KS4/5), statistics, and a little humour. This is really easy to just pick up and use and is intended to help all students embrace and celebrate diversity. Fully editable too. Updated to include ‘upskirting’. 1 hour, fully resourced PSHE lesson which investigates Revenge Porn - what we can do to prevent it, how to report it and the legal consequences. The lesson includes an hour long PowerPoint with accompanying worksheets, well differentiated activities, literacy focus tasks, clip tasks with three-way differentiated questions and information sheets. A detailed reading comprehension all about the recent ‘Momo Challenge’ (no pictures of Momo included) and the dangers of online challenges that this hoax has highlighted. This reading comprehension includes three sets of differentiated challenge questions, so with reading, discussion and answering the questions this will keep a group busy for 25-30 mins. It is perfect for Form Time or an activity in any English or PSHE lesson. The article, written by journalist R E Hunt (who has kindly let us share her work) investigates the irony behind the Momo Challenge - where the fear and harm from the sight of Momo were actually spread by the news media trying to warn parents about it. The article contains a serious message - Momo was a hoax - but a hoax based upon reality. It reiterates how young people can stay safe and use their critical thinking skills not to fall victim to future Momos. A double Tutor Time session (50 mins) all about whether the UK should have a second referendum - this time on the final Brexit options: taking whatever the negotiated deal is, possibly leaving with no deal, or remaining in the EU. The session investigates the reasons for and against a second referendum and who supports either side, before inviting the students to form their own conclusions through a class debate.
